The Final Dignity Assurance Plan from Vanguard Life Assurance Company Limited has an optional savings element provides immediate payment of selected benefits to the policyholder or designated beneficiary in the event of death of any life assured to cover the funeral expenses of lives assured.

The Final Dignity Assurance Plan provides life insurance cover on the life of the policyholder and secondary lives and pays the selected benefit in the eventuality of death.

The policy provides you the following as the main benefits as long as the policy is active.


STANDARD BENEFITS
  • FUNERAL/BURIAL BENEFIT

    A lump sum payment equal to the sum assured stated in the policy schedule will be paid to you or your designated beneficiary(ies) in the event of death of a life assured due to accident or natural causes during the period of insurance.
    The main life can buy up to the same limit of cover selected for himself for all secondary lives up to GH¢6,000.00. However, the main life or spouse or parents have the option to increase their benefits to GH¢12,000.00.

    The admissible age limit and the maximum cover for each life assured are as detailed in the table below.

  • ONE(1) WEEK CELEBRATION BENEFITS

    A lump sum payment of 30% of the funeral benefit of a secondary life would be paid to you in the eventuality of death of the secondary life excluding children. The benefit is paid to the policyholder to finance the cost associated with the celebration of one(1) week of an assured secondary life.

  • CASH BACK / LOYALTY BENEFITS

    A Lump sum of 10% of a total premiums paid less policy fees would be refunded to you at the end of every five(5) consecutive years if the policy is active and no claim has been made.

  • WAIVER OF PREMIUM BENEFITS

    Premium payment is waived at your sixtieth(60th) birthday if your age of entry is fifty-four(54) or less. The policy however continues for life and pays benefit on all lives assured. If your age of entry is fifty-five (55) and above, you shall pay premium for 10years and enjoy cover for life.

    If the principal life assured dies after the waiting period at a time this policy is active, Vanguard Life shall assumed future premium payments and honor Funeral and first anniversary benefit (applicable) on all the secondary lives. Automatic benefit update shall however cease.
CASH BONUS BENEFITS

If a secondary life assured dies, the premium applicable to the deceased secondary life assured shall go into a savings account and paid as part of the cash back benefit(where applicable) or paid every five(5) years to policy holder.

The policy holder has the option to use cash bonus account balance to pay monthly premium or premium in the event of default in premium payment before cover lapses or converted to paid-up.

PAID-UP BENEFITS

After payment of premium for five (5) consecutive years from the inception date of the policy, if you are unable to continue to pay premium with evidence of loss of job and or permanent total disability, the policy shall be automatically converted to paid-up insurance.

You shall no longer pay premium but the policy shall remain active on a reduced sum assured on the life of the Principal Life Assured only. Cover on the secondary life shall however cease.

The policy shall lapse and no payments shall be made to the policyholder if premium payments ceases during the first five (5) years of the policy.
OPTIONAL RIDER BENEFITS
  • 1ST ANNIVERSARY COVER

    The policy can be extended to provide funds one (1) year after the death of any life assured to finance a dignified 1st Anniversary of the deceased life assured as custom demands.
    The benefit level available for 1st Anniversary cover is up to 50% of the funeral cover of each life assured. This means that, if a parent has a Funeral Cover of GH¢2,000.00, his maximum 1st Anniversary cover cannot exceed GH¢1,000.00.

    Policyholder can withdraw from the investment account after every three (3) years and the maximum allowance withdrawal is 50% of the investment accrued subject to an administration fee of 1% on the monthly savings premium. On the death of the Life Assured the amount of the savings benefit as at the date of death will become payable. 

  • AUTOMATIC ANNUAL BENEFIT INCREASE

    This option enables the policyholder to increase the benefit lever of his cover himself and secondary lives annually to preserve the value of the benefit from the effect of inflation to the extent of the annual automatic increase options selected.

    The annual premium increase and the corresponding annual benefit increase options are as stated in the table below.

    If you selected any of the option on the application form, your monthly premium payment will automatically be increased based on the option selected at each anniversary of the policy issue date. Once selected, the policy holder cannot during the life time of the policy changed to a higher benefit increase update but can change to a lower benefit update option. The policyholder, however, have the option to cancel automatic benefit update on the policy at any time in writing to us.

    Please note that all life assured has an automatic benefit increase of 3.75% of their life cover for a corresponding increase of 5% premium


  • SAVINGS BENEFIT

    This benefit provides an opportunity for the policy holder to save. It is an investment account with a guaranteed return of 5%, it aims to serve as an avenue for policyholders to save. The minimum monthly premium is GH¢20.00.

    Policyholder can withdraw from the investment account after every three (3) years and the maximum allowance withdrawal is 50% of the investment accrued subject to an administration fee of 1% on the monthly savings premium. On the death of the Life Assured the amount of the savings benefit as at the date of death will become payable.

2. Required documents

Natural Death

In the event of a natural death, Vanguard Life requires the following documents to process the final dignity assurance policy payout:

  • Completed Claim form by the claimant
  • Original policy documents
  • Original or Certified true copy of medical certificate of the cause of death
  • Certified copy of death certificate
  • Certified copy of identity document of both the insured and beneficiary or trustee
  • Certified documentary proof of marriage (if applicable)
  • Prove of age of deceased life if age is not admitted.
  • Any other documents deem necessary by the insurer.

Unnatural Death

In the event of an unnatural death, Vanguard Life requires the following documents to process the funeral policy payout:

  • Completed Claim form by the claimant
  • Original policy documents
  • Original or Certified true copy of medical certificate of the cause of death
  • Certified copy of death certificate
  • Certified copy of identity document of both the insured and beneficiary or trustee
  • Certified documentary proof of marriage (if applicable)
  • Prove of age of deceased life if age is not admitted.
  • Police report
  • Any other documents deem necessary by the insurer.

1st Anniversary Claim

  • Admitted funeral claim with 1st Anniversary claims may not be subject to any claim application process excess for the claimant to request for the payment.
  • Where the funeral claim is paid and subsequently confirmed that the claim was fraudulent, the 1st Anniversary claim will not be paid.

Cash Back/Loyalty Benefit

  • A completed application or written request for cash back or total return of premium benefit by policyholder.
  • Payment will be made to the bank account of the policyholder used to pay premium or the policyholder will provide a bank account to enable the payment if the mode of premium payment is employer education.
